daily diminishing (day 138)

When my grandparents died, their house was filled with the knick-knacks my grandmother loved. I had grown up all of my life looking at these objects and many of them were background information, fading into the woodwork. A few came forward and demanded my attention – many of those were gotten rid of in the early clean out before I could get down to their house to say what I might want. I did ask that a few specific things be put aside for me. In the bag containing those sacred objects, was this pig which my mom had thought I might want and had added to my bag of stuff. He has been sitting in my kitchen for a while now and I love that when I see him there, it’s like some part of my Granny is there with me.
