daily diminishing (day 224)

About two years ago, I started baking bread using the starter my grandmother used. She shared her bread starter with people in our small rural community, so even though she died seven years ago, people are still baking her bread. When I started making the bread, it seemed like a sacred substance, so I’ve kept the heel from every loaf I baked. These are the bread heels.
