daily diminishing (day 257)

Third grade was a big year. We learned to multiply. My well-worn Multiplication Tables is a testimony to the amount of math learning I embarked on in that year (and afterward). Inside, I checked off the different combinations of multiplied numbers as I mastered them. My sister, who is a year ahead of me, told me, “Multiplication is for babies.” I remember feeling so belittled by her comment, especially since it was challenging for me to learn this new skill.
